Ashanti Shequoiya who is better known by the name Ashanti, is a popular American singer and actress. She is an American singer-songwriter and actor. Ashanti was first discovered when she was an 18-year-old and was became signed to Murder Inc. Records in 2002. The same year, she was featured on the Fat Joe's What's Luv? track and Ja Rule's Always On Time track both of which were huge hits. Her songs Foolish (number 1) and What's Luv! The first female artist to hold both the Top two spots on the Billboard Hot 100 in America With Foolish as number one and What's Love? We can celebrate this special day by celebrating it together. Ashanti Shequoiya is also known as Ashanti and was born on the 13th of October, 1980 at Glen Cove New York. Tina Douglas, her mother is a former dance instructor. Ken-Kaide Douglas is her father. She is Kenashia's younger sister. She is the oldest of them all. Douglas chose the name Ashanti in honor of the Ashanti Empire where women enjoyed power and influence. Douglas hoped Ashanti would emulate the Ashanti Empire. James' grandfather worked for Martin Luther King Jr. as a civil rights activist in the 1960s. Ashanti's mother discovered her daughter's talent after hearing her sing Mary J. Blige's Reminisce. Ashanti was on the screen when she was a kid in Spike Lee's Malcolm X and Malcolm X in 1992. Ashanti also had part in the Ted Demme film Who's the Man? A few of her cameos included music videos including K.R.S. Act One's MC's"Like They're Not Known" and 8 Off's Ghetto Woman. After being approached by several record labels including Bad Boy and Jive Ashanti was unable to make it in her career as a performer. In this midst, Ashanti was a performer at New York. At the Murder Inc. Studio she was waiting to make an opportunity to break through. Ashanti began as a back-up vocalist on Big Pun's song"How We Roll. Ashanti also sang on the Fat Joe song What's Luv? and Ja Rule's Always on Time. The first single from Ashanti, Foolish and Foolish, the DeBarge song Stay with Me from 1983 is sampled. Ashanti's first self-titled album was released by Irv's Murder Inc. in 2002 was Ashanti. The Declaration, her fourth studio album, was released in June 2008 Hey Baby (After The Club) hit radios and digital platforms on the 16th of October. The actress starred in the movie Christmas in the City and as Latasha Montclair on Army Wives. Her track Rock wit U was sampled by British artist Aitch to record his song Baby on the 10th of March 2022.
